CrossFit Testimonial – Katie
I started CrossFit in November 2013 while we were living in Massachusetts. I had been trying to work out from home but wasn’t really progressing. My brother-in-law had been doing CrossFit for several years by then and my husband and sister-in-law had joined earlier in the year. I saw the results but I didn’t think I’d enjoy it. Honestly, the barbell seemed really intimidating and the people intense but everyone kept saying “it’s scalable” and “you can just do what you feel comfortable with”. I got hooked! It really was scalable and easy to adjust to fit whatever fitness and skill level you are currently at. There is always a next step to achieve, whether it be a new weight on a lift, a new time for a benchmark workout, or a new skill altogether.
We moved to Raleigh in May 2014 and we started going to CrossFit Brier Creek. From the very first day everyone has been so incredibly friendly and encouraging here. Each class starts with a relevant warm-up and a review of all the movements for the workout every class. The coaches are great – they are always happy to give suggestions on progressions through movements and ways to improve technique. And the people here are just amazing. People talk about the “community” within CrossFit. Here at CFBC you feel it as soon as you walk through the door!
