On September 11, 2001, 343 FDNY firefighters lost their lives due to a cowardly act of terrorism against America. Since then over 200 more firefighters have died from cancer and other causes due to the toxins that they were exposed to during their response.(you can check out the statistics here). Additionally, there were so many other lives lost as well. We can not forget any of the brave Americans that died that day and those that continue to suffer physically and mentally from it. Today we will honor ALL of those lost in the 9/11 attacks. From NYC to the Pentagon, that field in Somerset County, Pennsylvania, and to the families left behind. They are all heroes!
