Throwdown Flashback

Today we will be trying out two events from the Throwdown in the Triangle.  During events 1 and 2 athletes had 5 minutes to establish a 1 rep max clean and jerk.  They then rested a minute and began a 750 meter row for time.  We will be taking the first part of class to practice the clean and jerk and build up to your opening weight.  Once you pick your opening weight and the clock starts, men will go up only 10lbs each attempt and women 5lbs.  If you don’t successfully make the lift you will have to stay at the same weight.  Having the time limit and weight restrictions makes things interesting and adds some strategy to the event.  The 750 meter row is also an interesting beast.  Watch your pace carefully.  If you come out too hard you might be back paddling with 250 meters left.  On the flip side you can’t pace this like a 1k row.  Good times!
