Consistency is Key

Consistency

Yesterday we talked about the importance of mobility and preparing for your workout.  Today I want to emphasize the importance of consistency.  There are many ways that being consistent will help you in the gym and everyday life.  We don’t have time to discuss life issues here, but we can knock out the gym part.  One of the first steps in staying consistent is to make going to the gym an everyday integral part of your day.  The athletes that we see obtain the best results do this.  We can pattern them.  Almost to a point that if they don’t show up we know something is wrong.  Now you are saying… “But what about rest days?”  Rest is ABSOLUTELY important, but in order to stay consistent with your plan to make the gym a part of your day you should consider coming in and just stretching or mobilizing for an hour.  We don’t mind you doing this.  Yoga is also an option on these days.  This not only gives you a break from lifting heavy and high intensity metcons , but also allows you to continue to improve your overall fitness.  We call these active rest days.  Try it out.  It works!  Consistency also means sticking to your healthy meal plans and making proper nutrition a way of life.   Tomorrow we will talk more on  this as well as consistency of movements.
